Restaurant Business is a finalist for 12 Jesse H. Neal Awards

Restaurant Business was named a finalist Thursday for 12 Jesse H. Neal Awards, including Best Media Brand and Best Website, largely for the publication’s coverage of an industry struggling to cope with the continued impacts of the pandemic.

The awards are the most prestigious accolades in business journalism and were established in 1955 to recognize editorial excellence in business journalism. This year’s awards recognize work done in 2021.

“To say I’m proud of our team at Restaurant Business would be an understatement,” said Abbey Lewis, Vice President of Content Strategies at Winsight LLC. “Their coverage of the restaurant industry has long been best in class, and to see them recognized for this consistent and incredible work is truly remarkable. Our readership benefits daily from their expertise and dedication, and I am very pleased to see them recognized.

Last year, Restaurant Business was a finalist for 14 Neal Awards and won 10 of the coveted honors, including Best Website.

This year, Restaurant Business is a finalist for its work on several in-depth projects for all staff, including a series of stories examining the impact of COVID one year later, a series on the impact of the $15 salary, and a continuous coverage of the labor crisis in the industry.

Also among the finalists are the financial blog The Bottom Line and the podcast A Deeper Dive by RB editor Jonathan Maze, with audio producer Kimberly Kaczmarek; Best Infographic by Art Director Nico Heins, Best Industry Coverage by Editor Joe Guszkowski for his article on Restaurant Technology M&A; and Best Media Coverage for Restaurant Revitalization Fund work by Editor-in-Chief Peter Romeo and Editor-in-Chief Heather Lalley.

“Team RB are awesome and kick ass, and this proves it,” Maze said. “I couldn’t be prouder of the work they’ve done day in and day out to tell the stories that matter to people in the restaurant industry.”

The winners will be named at a ceremony in New York on April 26.
